It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
