Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the region, producing wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

State Emergency Services handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.
